Ceramic-to-metal custom vacuum brazing services for aluminum oxide, beryllium oxide, aluminum nitride, Kovar, tantalum, molybdenum, Monel, Hastelloy, Inconel, copper, steel, stainless steel, titanium, beryllium and nickel. Brazing eliminates oxidation, outgassing and virtual leak areas that are common with welding. Other services such as helium leak and pressure testing, TIG and plasma arc welding, electrical hi-pot testing up to 80 kV and heat treating offered. Brazing is a method of using a metal material with a lower melting point than the base metal as the filler, heating the weldment and the solder metal to higher than the melting point of the filler metal and lower than the melting temperature of the base metal. The base metal is wetted with liquid filler metal, the joint gap is filled and diffused with the base metal to realize the connection of the weldment.

Attention:

Carbon base refractory tiles (graphite, C-C composite) are brazed onto cooled TZM, steel or copperstructures. In clectrical engineering, alumina parts are brazed in insulators and tight connectors. Brazing of aluminum nitrideis developed for the production of power electronic components.

Due to its high thermal conductivity, good thermal shock behaviour and excellent corrosion resistance, silicon carbide has a potential market in heat exchangers for the high temperature range in acronautical, automotive and power generation industries, and for the medium temperature range in chemical industry. Significant research effort is today devoted to find outbrazing techniques suitable for such applications. In the french-swedish AGATA program, wheel/shaft joining of siliconnitride turbines for hybrid electrical vehicles needs direct brazing technologies.
